Minnesota’s largest city has now seen five homicides in a period of less than 24 hours.
“The level of violence this city has experienced in less than 24 hours is infuriating. Each individual act causes immense grief and tears families apart,” Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara said.

Minneapolis police say the violent stretch began late Tuesday night when officers responded to a shooting and found three men and two women suffering from life-threatening gunshot wounds.

Two of the men and one of the women were pronounced dead at the scene while the other two were brought to a hospital. About an hour after that shooting, an adult male arrived at a hospital with a gunshot wound.
On Thursday, Minneapolis police released more information about two additional fatal shootings that occurred on Wednesday.

The first was reported around 1:00 Wednesday in the 2100 block of Cedar Ave. South where a man in his 30’s was found suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound in the street. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said a bullet also hit an SUV and narrowly missed two children who were sitting in the vehicle, which was not believed to have been targeted during the shooting.
The second deadly shooting of the day happened in the 3000 block of 15th Ave. South where officers found a man in his 50’s suffering from gunshot wounds. He was transported to a hospital where he later died, police say.
So far no arrests have been made. Minneapolis police previously said gang activity was a suspected motive of Tuesday’s shooting.
Authorities said Wednesday's shootings did not appear to be random but it’s unclear if they’re connected to Tuesday night’s murder.
