Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - It appears seasonal factors contributed to an increase in Olmsted County’s unemployment rate in December.

The latest jobs data from the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development shows the jobless rate in the Rochester area rose 4-tenths of a point from November to 2.6-percent in December. The November rate was the lowest since January 2001.

Olmsted County continued to enjoy the lowest unemployment rate in the region, where every County saw a jump in their jobless rates. Houston County had the highest rate and was tied with Fillmore County for the largest increase. The jobless rates in both counties were up a full percentage point from December, and the rate for Houston County hit 4 percent.
