The University of Minnesota Board of of Regents meets Friday and is scheduled to consider the proposed master campus plan for the University of Minnesota-Rochester. That plan cleared its first real test Thursday when it was recommended for approval by the Board of Regents Facilities Committee. The same committee also reviewed and approved the U of M’s updated six year capital improvement plan, which includes a funding authorization of $45 million for the first building at the new campus on properties located just to the north of Soldiers Field Park.

Actual construction work at the site is still years away.  UMR Assistant Vice Chancellor Jay Hesley says the proposal calls for the project to be funded in 2020.
