Repeat Felon Gets Prison for Rochester Drug Sales
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- A Rochester man with at least eight previous felony theft and drug-related convictions has been sentenced to more than nine years in prison for his latest conviction.
Rochester Man Sentenced After Drug Plea Agreement
Fifty-five-year-old Mario Rendell Peterson was scheduled to stand trial next week on a long list of felony charges stemming from a narcotics investigation by Rochester police, but today entered into a plea agreement and was sentenced after admitting to a charge of first-degree drug sales. In exchange, two additional counts of first-degree drug sales and three counts of second-degree drug possession were dismissed.

Repeat Offender Receives More Than Nine Years in Prison
Peterson's bail was set at $350,000 when he was formally charged in the case in February. The criminal complaint alleged that he sold packages of methamphetamine weighing 29 grams to a Rochester police informant.

Methamphetamine and Fentanyl Seized in Rochester
The court document says the alleged drug sales led to the execution of a search warrant at his residence in northwest Rochester, where police seized an additional 36 grams of methamphetamine and approximately 13 grams of fentanyl.

Prior to today's plea agreement, Peterson's most recent felony conviction was for driving under the influence of drugs stemming from his arrest in May of last year.
