Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- The Rochester Police Department is reporting the arrest of two teenage boys suspected of committing a carjacking in Rochester last week.

Officers responded to the carjacking Thursday morning. The suspects had gotten away. Police announced the arrest of the suspects on Monday. 

Rochester police previously stated that the reported carjacking occurred near the Gates of Rochester apartment complex in the 2000 block of 41st St. Northwest around 1:30 a.m. on April 17.

Two people inside of the parked vehicle told officers two subjects approached them, brandished a handgun and ordered them out of the vehicle. 

Police said the victims complied with the suspects and got out. The suspects then took off in the vehicle.

Responding officers later located the stolen vehicle with the suspects inside. Police said the vehicle did not pull over for an attempted traffic stop. 

Eventually the suspects exited the vehicle and escaped on foot in the area of the 41st St. and 16th Ave. Northwest intersection, which is about a half mile from where the carjacking was reported, police said. 

Police Announce Arrest of Juvenile Suspects in Rochester, MN Carjacking

Rochester Police Department Communications Coordinator Amanda Grayson says the suspects, described as a 14-year-old boy and 15-year-old boy, were taken to the East Central Regional Juvenile Center in Anoka County following their arrest. 

The Rochester teenagers expected to face second-degree robbery and carjacking charges, according to Grayson.
