The Rochester School Board has approved its 2015 property tax levy.

The levy will be just under $41 million, or nearly 10% or $3 million higher than this year’s figure.

The board earlier rejected a staff proposal that would have increased the levy by 17 percent. Staff had recommended the higher figure to avoid cuts next year. The district is expected to tap its reserve account to cover any shortfalls.

The Board Tuesday night also said farewell to Terry Throndson, who lost his re-election bid to Jean Marvin last month. She will take the seat in January.
