The Best Credit Union in Minnesota is Here in Rochester

We're used to being number-one in lots of things in Minnesota, and now the number-one credit union in Minnesota is right here in Rochester.

Rochester has topped many different lists when it comes categories like quality of life, education, and health care. Heck, our own Mayo Clinic has been ranked as the top hospital in the country for several years in a row, right? So I guess I shouldn't be surprised, then, that this Rochester credit union was named number-one here in Minnesota.

So which one is it? Well, that'd be the Mayo Employee Federal Credit Union (MEFCU, for short, as Mayo Clinic employees no doubt know.) This release from the Minnesota Credit Union Network says MEFCU was named the top credit union in the Land of 10,000 Lakes by Forbes magazine last October.

My wife, Katie, works at Mayo Clinic, so we're also members of MEFCU and I first noted this impressive ranking on a mailing they sent out earlier this week, and was impressed.

If you're wondering how Forbes came up with its list of top credit unions in each state, the Minnesota Credit Union Network release explained it like this:

"While most industry rankings are based on financial performance, Forbes took a different approach by surveying more than 25,000 individuals for their opinions on their current and former financial relationships. Feedback from them included recommendations, satisfaction, and five subcategories: trust, terms and conditions, branch services, digital services, and financial advice. Out of over 5300 credit unions in the nation, only 182 were included in the publication," the release noted.

So, even though it's a few months late, congrats, MEFCU... well done!
