Traffic Stop Leads to Prison for Rochester Drug Offender
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Rochester man with a previous conviction for drug dealing has been ordered to prison.
According to court records, 37-year-old Adam Kyle Thompson was arrested in December following a traffic stop in northwest Rochester. The criminal complaint indicates he was a passenger in the vehicle and was wanted on an active arrest warrant.

The court document says an officer involved in the traffic stop searched Thompson and discovered nearly 40 grams of methamphetamine in his pants. The charges say about 320 grams of marijuana was also discovered in a backpack.
Court records show that he was previously convicted of first-degree drug sales in 2017, which resulted in a 7 1/2 year prison sentence. Thompson also has convictions for felony drug possession in 2023 and felony fleeing police for a high-speed chase with Rochester police, also in 2023.
Thompson recently entered into a plea agreement and admitted to a second-degree drug possession charge. He was sentenced Friday to 75 months in prison with credit for 86 days he has already served in jail.
