Twin Cities Woman Accused of Fleeing Rochester PD in Stolen Vehicle

Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- A Twin Cities woman is facing charges in Olmsted County after being accused of stealing a vehicle then fleeing law enforcement in Rochester.

The criminal complaint, filed Monday in Olmsted County Court, says Rochester Police responded to the report of a stolen vehicle at a store on Saturday. The male victim told officers he left the keys in the ignition when he briefly went inside of the business and found his vehicle was gone when he returned to the parking lot. 

The man gave law enforcement a description of his vehicle and officers spotted it in Rochester a short time later. Court documents say the driver rapidly accelerated the vehicle after an officer activated their emergency lights in an effort to flee the traffic stop. 

Officers terminated the pursuit out of concern for public safety, the charges say. Law enforcement agencies throughout the region tracked the vehicle as it traveled north on Hwy. 52. The State Patrol dispatched a helicopter to track the stolen car to a parking lot at a business complex in Edina. 

Edina Police officers were at the scene where they arrested the driver, identified as 18-year-old Amal Abdikadir Noor of Edina. The complaint says Noor was transported back to Rochester where she was arranged Monday on charges of felony motor vehicle theft and felony fleeing. 

The judge in the case released Noor without bail but with conditions. Her next court appearance is set for August 16.
