Brownsdale, MN (KROC-AM News) - A well-known entertainment venue that served numerous generations of southeastern Minnesota residents for more than 60 years went up in flames Saturday night.

The Brownsdale Volunteer Fire Department today reported that firefighters responded to reports of a fire at the Rohler Rink Skating Rink in the Brownsdale around 10:50 p.m. A news release says several passing motorists spotted the fire eyewitnesses reported seeing flames coming from the roof.

When Brownsdale firefighters arrived at the scene they found the southern portion of the building fully involved but the flames eventually consumed the entire building before they were extinguished around 4 AM Saturday. The news release says the entire structure and its contents are considered a total loss.

Two members of the Brownsdale fire department were injured during the firefighting operation. One of them was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation and the other was transported to St. Marys Hospital in Rochester to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries sustained in a fall while conducting water shuttle operations.

The cause of the fire has not been determined. The State Fire Marshal's Office, the Mower County Sheriff's Office, and the Brownsdale Volunteer Fire Department are investigating.
