Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Rochester City Council is expected to vote Monday on a proposal to extend some additional relief to bars and restaurants as they struggle to survive the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

The plan calls for supplementing the city's existing License Grant Program to provide grants worth up to the total cost of a business's on-sale liquor license for 2020-2021. The current program limited the assistance to $4000 for each eligible business. The proposal is essentially a temporary waiver of liquor license fees, which is expected to cost the city about $165,000.

The City Council is also being asked to delay a 40% increase scheduled to take effect next April for one year. The cost of that provision is estimated at $101,000.
