Brookston, MN (KROC-AM News)- The State Patrol is investigating a northern Minnesota crash that claimed the lives of four people, including two children and injured a Rochester man.

Five vehicles were involved in the fatality. It happened in a construction zone in northeastern Minnesota’s St. Louis County shortly before 3:00 Wednesday afternoon. 

The state crash report says a Mack semi, GMC SUV, Ford SUV and Honda SUV were stopped in the construction zone on Hwy. 2, about 30 miles west of Duluth when an International Semi struck the stopped vehicles at highway speeds.

The State Patrol says all four people, including two children, occupying the Honda SUV were killed. The Blackduck, MN, residents, who the crash report says were all buckled up, have been identified as: 

65-year-old Vincent Louis Dow (driver)

66-year-old Bonnie Mae Dow

9-year-old Hope Mae Oakgrove

9-year-old Charlotte White

Authorities identified the driver of the International semi as 63-year-old Gregory Scott Anwiler of Grand Rapids. He was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. 

45-year-old Aldo Escobar Hidalgo of Rochester was identified as the operator of the Mack truck. He suffered what are being described as non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital for further care. 

A passenger in the Ford SUV, identified as 84-year-old Sharon Kay Burt of Grand Rapids, was also brought to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. 

The Ford SUV driver, 77-year-old Nancy Carolyn Salmi of Grand Rapids, was not hurt. 

Two people from Grand Rapids were in the GMC SUV and also escaped the fatality unhurt. They’ve been identified as 33-year-old Sarah Jean Kraskey and 35-year-old Cody Russell Kraskey. 

The report indicates its unknown if Anwiler was buckled up or under the influence of alcohol.
