
Firefighters Rescue Occupants from Buring Rochester Building
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- Firefighters had to rescue occupants from a fire at a Rochester apartment complex Monday morning.

A news release issued by the Rochester Fire Department says crews responded to the blaze around 10 a.m.
Responding firefighters reported seeing smoke and flames coming from a single apartment. The news release indicates some of the occupants were trapped on the building’s third floor.

Fire Breaks Out on Third Floor of Silver Lake Apartments in Rochester, MN Firefighters Deploy Ladders to Rescue Trapped Occupants
Firefighters responded to the fire at the Silver Lake Apartments in the 1500 block of 3rd Ave. Northeast.
Upon arrival crews began fighting the fire from the outside of the building. They then made their way inside and contained the fire to a single apartment on the southeastern side of the building.
During the fire fight, crews deployed multiple ladders to rescue occupants from the third floor. Nothing was found following a sweep of the floor, the news release says.
First responders evaluated the rescued occupants and determined none of them were harmed. No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is not yet available.
The fire damage was limited to the apartment of origin and minor smoke damage occurred on the building’s upper floor, the news release says.
Officials say the fire serves as a reminder to immediately act in the event of a fire alarm sounding. They also say to shelter in place and get to a window to be visible to firefighters in the event of a fire cutting off an escape route.
Mayo Clinic Ambulance, Rochester Public Transit, the Rochester Police Department and the Red Cross also responded to the apartment fire.
