Former Minnesota Cop Sent to Prison For Sex Assault Conviction
Roseau, MN (Learfield News Service) - A former police officer is going to prison for three years after entering a guilty plea to charges of kidnapping, criminal sexual conduct and stalking.
Thirty-year-old Joshua Demmerly was accused of sexually assaulting a teenager and stalking her over a period of more than two years.
Demmerly's accuser is now an adult. She told investigators with the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension about more than 10 sexual assaults while she was 16 and 17 years old. She said he told her there was a felony investigation into her actions and he could protect her if she spent time with him.
Demmerly was an officer with the Warroad Police Dept.
