30-Day Sentence For Rochester Man Convicted in Child Porn Case
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Rochester man has been ordered to serve 30 days in jail, with work release privileges, for a child pornography conviction.
Charges Stem From Google Tip
According to Olmsted County court records, 31-year-old Taylor Andrew Nelson was charged last year with two counts of possession of child pornography following an investigation by the Rochester Police Department. Court documents say the investigation was initiated after police received a tip from Google.
Previous Investigation
The criminal complaint states that 14 videos depicting suspected child sexual abuse material were uploaded to a cloud account in October 2024. Investigators then traced the account to Nelson, who had previously been linked to suspected child sexual abuse material through a tip submitted to police in 2021.
Admitted Accessing Child Porn
Court documents say a search warrant was executed at Nelson's residence in December 2024. Investigators seized a cell phone, and Nelson gave a statement admitting that he had been viewing child pornography on the device over the past six to seven years.
Young Girl Sexually Assaulted
The charges indicated the illicit files uploaded to the cloud account included a video depicting the sexual assault of a young girl estimated to be five to seven years old. The criminal complaint says a forensic examination of Nelson's cell phone led to the discovery of 67 images and videos of child sexual abuse material.

Work Release and Probation
Nelson entered into a plea agreement last November and admitted to one of the felony child pornography possession charges.
In addition to his work release sentence, Nelson was also placed on probation for five years and will be required to register as a predatory offender.
