Most law enforcement agencies will never never call someone and demand money over the phone to settle a warrant or for other services, Parkin said.

He advises anyone getting a call from someone claiming to be law enforcement to verify the person they are talking to by dispatch or check warrant information online.

Parkin also says dispatch will confirm if law enforcement is attempting to get in touch.
