Probation for Rochester Man Accused of Gun Threats to Kids
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Rochester man who was accused of threatening adults and children with a gun last year will not have to serve any additional time behind bars.
23-year-old Christopher Jeff Brown was sentenced today in Olmsted County Court for his conviction on a charge of felony terroristic threats. He entered a guilty plea to the charge in October through a plea deal that resulted in the dismissal of a second-degree assault charge.
According to court documents, Rochester police responded to a townhome complex in the 3000 block of 25th Street Northwest on the evening of August 11, 2023. There had been reports of threats being made that with a firearm.
The criminal complaint says the responding officers spoke with several people residing in the complex who reported seeing two men passing a gun back and forth to each other and "pointing the gun at various people, including children, and making threats to shoot them. The complaint says the officers were able to identify Brown and 25-year-old Emmandarry Kumawoo David as suspects in the case.
The court document indicates David, who told police he has a permit to carry a firearm, told officers that he had a handgun in his waistband during the incident. He claimed that he never brandished the gun and the criminal complaint says Brown also told the officers the gun was never pointed at anyone.

Brown was sentenced today to five years on probation for his felony conviction stemming from the incident.
David was also charged with second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon and felony terroristic threats. His case is still pending.
