
Rochester Mom Gets Probation for Hit-and-Run with Child in Car
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Rochester woman convicted of a charge stemming from a hit and run incident last year has been sentenced to probation.
According to court records, 41-year-old Lindsay Jo Hawkinson was taken into custody after Rochester Police responded on May 5th last year to a report of an altercation and a hit and run in the parking lot of the Taco Bell restaurant in southeast Rochester. The criminal complaint states that Hawkinson was allegedly driving her boyfriend's car with a revoked driver's license and her 11-year-old daughter in the vehicle.
The Victim Told Police She Felt the Vehicle Run Over Her Back and Ankle
According to the court document, the victim in the case told police that she and Hawkinson were involved in an altercation outside the restaurant. The woman alleged that Hawkinson grabbed her by the hair and pulled her partially into the vehicle before driving away.
The victim told Rochester Police that she was dragged for approximately 50 feet before she was able to break free and then felt a tire roll over her back and her right ankle. The responding officers reported finding her in distress with obvious visible injuries, torn clothing, and broke my glasses. The criminal complaint says she was treated for fractured ribs, torn ligaments in her right ankle, and multiple areas of bone bruising and contusions.
Hawkinson was charged with two felony counts of criminal vehicular operation and a misdemeanor charge of driving after revocation. She earlier entered into a plea agreement and admitted to a gross misdemeanor charge of criminal vehicular operation in exchange for the dismissal of the other charges.

She has been sentenced to four years on probation. Hawkinson was also ordered to pay $800 restitution.
