Seasonal factors contributed to a significant drop in the Rochester area’s unemployment rate last month.

The latest report from the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development shows the jobless rate for Olmsted County slid seven-tenths of a point from March to 3.7-percent. That remains the lowest rate in the region and is down from the 4.1-percent rate reported last April.

Every county in the southeast corner of the state enjoyed lower unemployment rates last month. Houston County saw one of the largest drops, but it’s rate remained the highest in the region at 5.9-percent.
