Charges: Rochester Career Criminal Caught with Stolen Vehicle
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- A Rochester man with 27 theft-related convictions is facing new charges related to a motor vehicle theft.

Olmsted County Prosecutors have charged 48-year-old Garrik Sneed with one felony count of receiving stolen property. The criminal complaint indicates he received a silver 2001 Mitsubishi Montero that was reported stolen from a parking lot near the Riverview Suites apartment complex off Civic Center Dr. northeast on August 24. The vehicle’s owner told police the vehicle was locked and that he had the only key.
On September 3 a Rochester police officer was on patrol when he spotted the Mitsubishi at a unit in Bob’s Trailer Court in southeast Rochester. The unit belonged to Sneed, according to the complaint.
Sneed told the officer that his cousin had a tow truck drop the vehicle off for him to work on it. The complaint says Sneed acknowledged he did not have the vehicle’s key but said he did not know how his cousin came to possess the vehicle. Sneed maintained that story after he was arrested for receiving stolen property, the complaint says.
Court records show Sneed’s theft convictions span from 1992-2021. He’s also facing charges in Olmsted County Court for a motor vehicle theft that occurred in March.
Conditional bail for Sneed was set at $20,000, however jail records indicate he’s residing in the Olmsted County Adult Detention Center. His next court appearance is set for September 20.
