GoFundMe Launched for Rochester Native Killed in Minnesota Standoff Shooting
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- A GofundMe page has been launched for the firefighter and Rochester native killed during a standoff in the Twin Cities Sunday morning.
He was one of three first responders who was shot and killed in Burnsville. First responders were at the residence on the report of an armed domestic abuse suspect barricaded inside of home and holding seven children hostage.
Adam Finseth was 40 years old. He grew up in Rochester and graduated from John Marshall High School in 2001.
After graduation he served four years in the Army, which included a tour of duty in Iraq. Finseth became a firefighter/EMT with the City of Burnsville in 2019.
The GoFundMe page says Finseth, “exemplified bravery, selflessness, and unwavering dedication to helping others.” Finseth is also described as a loving husband and father, who “cherished his family above all else and worked tirelessly to provide them with love, support, and security.”

As of Monday afternoon more than 550 people have donated to the fundraiser since it launched Sunday night. A link to the page is available by clicking here.
Burnsville Police Officers Paul Elmstrand and Matthew Ruge, both 27-years-old, also lost their lives in the tragic incident.
The City of Burnsville issued a statement Sunday night indicating scammers are attempting to take advantage of the community’s grief by setting up fake fundraisers. Officials plan to publish legitimate fundraising links on the City of Burnsville’s website sometime this week.
