Rochester Man Sentenced for Pointing Gun at Neighbor
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- A Rochester man convicted of felony assault earlier this year will have the chance to stay out of prison.
66-year-old Gerald Senart entered an Alford plea this past April to a second-degree assault charge, which means he doesn't admit guilt but acknowledges there is enough evidence to convict him of the crime. In exchange for the plea, the prosecution dropped a fifth-degree assault charge.
Senart was given a stayed prison sentence of three years in on Tuesday. He’s also sentenced to serve three days in the Olmsted County jail in August, required to pay a $500 fine and abide by probation terms.
Court documents accused Senart of pointing a gun at his neighbor in the 5400 block of Weatherstone Circle Northwest on April 1, 2022. The victim told Rochester Police that Senart answered his door, brandished a handgun, racked the weapon, and pointed it at her, causing her to fear for her life after she went to talk with him about a confrontation she had on video between him and her children.
