Search Warrant Leads to Major Minnesota Meth, Cocaine Bust
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- A Rochester man is in custody following a major drug bust in downtown Rochester.
Olmsted County Sheriff’s Captain Tim Parkin said Tuesday that members of the Southeast Minnesota Violent Crimes Enforcement Team and Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office Deputies discovered the drugs after executing a search warrant on Jan. 12.
The raid occurred around 12:30 p.m. at a residence in the 500 block of 3rd St. Northwest. Parkin said 49-year-old Charles Tix was arrested as a result of the search.
Inside of the home law enforcement located 1,000 grams, which equates to more than two pounds, of meth, 600 grams of cocaine, which equals more than one pound and an undisclosed amount of mushrooms Parkin described as a small amount.
In addition to the massive haul of suspected drugs, law enforcement also seized a handgun, rifle and ammunition in the area of the drug discovery, Parkin said.
Tix was booked into the Olmsted County Jail on suspicion of two counts of first-degree drug sales, two counts of first-degree drug possession, a count of aggravated controlled substance with a firearm and possession of a firearm/ammo under the influence of drugs.
Tix’s first appearance in Olmsted County Court has not yet been scheduled. Parkin said a second person at the residence during the raid who had an active arrest warrant was also apprehended. That person's name has not been released.
