Olmsted County Sheriff’s Captain Tim Parkin said the crash happened around 5 a.m. Responding deputies found the vehicle upside down in a ditch.
The crash occurred in the 2000 block of Hwy. 63/75th St. Northeast, which is near the Hwy. 63 and North Broadway Ave. roundabout intersection in Haverhill Township.
Parkin says the preliminary crash investigation indicates the vehicle was traveling east when it left the roadway and went airborne after striking a driveway. The vehicle then hit a power pole before coming to rest on its roof.
First responders found the driver trapped inside of the vehicle. He was suffering apparent injuries to his right arm and head, Parkin said.
The Rochester Fire Department responded to the scene to help free the man from his vehicle. He was then taken to St. Mary’s Hospital and his injuries are described as non-life-threatening.
Parkin described the driver as a 32-year-old man. His name is not being released.
People’s Energy Co-Op also responded to the scene to repair the damaged power pole. The crash knocked out power for thousands of customers.
The crash occurred following an overnight snowfall that made for slick road conditions across southeast Minnesota.
