Charges: Wanted Man Threatened Witness & Rochester Police Officers
30-year-old Cesar Corrales is charged with three felony threat counts and a gross misdemeanor count of obstructing the legal process.
The charges say officers on patrol in northwest Rochester conducted a random license plate check on a vehicle and learned its owner, identified as Corrales, had an active arrest warrant. Police initiated a traffic stop and identified Corrales as the driver.
Officers told Corrales he was under arrest, however Corrales got out of the vehicle and began walking away from the police, the complaint indicates.
The officers then attempted to detain Corrales but he physically resisted by kicking towards police and pulling away his arms. Corrales yelled that he had guns and grenades on him and also called a nearby witness at rat and told the witness he was going to “get him,” the complaint says.
Officers eventually got Corrales into the squad vehicle. While in the vehicle, Corrales claimed he was a member of the Mexican Mafia and said he would call in a hit on the officers and that their days were numbered, the charges say.
The court document does not say what the active arrest warrant against Corrales was. The complaint does not say if any weapons were found.
Bail was set at $100,000 following Corrales’s first court appearance. He is due back in court later this month.
