Police say the vehicle briefly stopped between the railroad crossing’s stop sign and the tracks as the train was about 40 feet away from the crossing.

The motorist then drove the vehicle forward into the path of the oncoming locomotive causing the train to smash into the driver’s side of the vehicle and push it about 200 feet down the tracks, the news release says.
