Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- The Rochester Police Department says five teenagers could face charges connected to an attempted underage solicitation sting.

Communications Coordinator Amanda Grayson says the incident that led to the charging request occurred around 7:30 Friday night. 

Police responded to the McDonald’s restaurant on 2nd St. in southwest Rochester on the report of disorderly conduct and assault.

Teens Attempting Underage Solicitation Sting Accused of Attacking Dating App User at Rochester McDonald's

Grayson says the victim, described as a 30-year-old man, told officers he was messaging a user he believed to be an adult on a dating app and that he planned to meet her at a restaurant.

The man told police he stated he was not interested after the user told him she was 15 years old, police say. 

Grayson says the man reported being met by a group of people as he was walking from the restaurant to his car. He said the group called him names, threw objects at him and called him names. 

The group had been messaging with the man and planned to confront him, according to the police report
Grayson says the group of five teens, who range in age from 15 to 18, could face multiple charges including assault and disorderly conduct.
