
Update: Woman Hospitalized After Crash Near Rochester Hy-Vee Has Died from Her Injuries

Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- The woman hospitalized after a crash near a Rochester Hy-Vee last week has died from her injuries.

First responders were called to the crash around 11:30 a.m. on August 11. Two vehicles were involved in the crash at the intersection of 37th St. and 3rd Ave. Northwest.
Rochester police closed the road in order to investigate the collision.
77-Year-Old Rochester Woman Injured in August 11 Two-Vehicle Crash Near Hy-Vee Dies from Her Injuries
The preliminary crash investigation indicates a northbound vehicle leaving the grocery store collided with a vehicle traveling east on 37th St. Northwest, according to Rochester Police Department Communications Coordinator Amanda Grayson.
Police had indicated the injured person transported to the hospital was a 77-year-old woman. The other driver was not hurt.
On Monday, police identified the crash victim as Eileen Thorpe of Rochester. Her obituary indicates she passed away from her injuries on August 14 and was surrounded by family and friends.

Thorpe was known for her love of adventure and spending time with her family, according to the obituary.
She is survived by her husband, son, daughter, grandchildren, siblings and nieces and nephews.
Instead of flowers, mourners are being asked to consider a donation to iHope Genetic Health, a non-profit the obituary says was dear to Thrope's Heart. A fundraiser has been set up to honor her memory.
